about...

I have trouble writing about my own work concisely, without wandering through a whole array of topics. This is also a new site and I have not yet organized material for this section. So for now, here is a sampling of what other people are saying about my projects and photography...

Quotes in the Press...

"Ryan Gallagher ... invented a new genre: camera tossing. bizarre, sometimes highly abstract photos were evolving. meanwhile some other photographers are following his example, putting their equipment at high risk."
Der Spiegel Online (an english translation)

"Ryan Gallagher, 28, is on the forefront of the camera-toss craze. ... His 'exercise in chance photography' produces abstract images that are beautiful and intriguing, familiar yet often undecipherable."
The Washington Post

"...appear almost psychedelic. showing a view of our world, which is otherwise only could achived by combining amphetamines, THC and alcohol. the inevitable movement of the camera at the moment of exposure produces some kind of bizarre blur, which could not be better done by a photoshop-professional."
Der Spiegel Online (an english translation)
